SSC CHSL Typing Test:

According to SSC CHSL (10+2) selection procedure, Typing Test will be conducted for the post of , Data Entry Operator (DEO), Postal Assistant(PA) /Sorting Assistant(SA) and LDCs. SSC CHSL Typing Test will be conducted for those candidates who qualify in the SSC CHSL Tier-II.

SSC CHSL Typing Test Analysis
1	Before the real analysis typing test, candidates will be asked to take a demo test. It's surely an appreciating step taken by the authority to keep the,aspirants away from the hesitation and repeating the mistakes.
2	There is no Special Characters in the typing test, Only basic characters are given.So take it easy.
3	After completion of typing test, candidates are being asked to write all the characters in their ownhandwriting on an A-4 Size paper sheet and submit the same to the invigilator.
4	If candidate complete the typing test before the given time, they can make corrections in their test.
5	Backspace are allowed during the typing test.
6	Candidate should not exceed the errors to a certain percentage which is fixed by SSC. The percentage error limit for both the posts is 5% to 7%.
7	You will get passage 2 minutes before the start of the skill test.
8	There will be a total of three passage in the typing test
9	After you change paragraph you must use TAB for three space instead of THREE white space.
10	Keyboard keys that they provide have soft keys if,you have any problem with the keyboard or the system that they have provided you can ask invigilator to change the keyboard.
11	For document verification, you must carry mark sheet and passing certificate of 10th and 12th class with xerox copy and 2 passport size photograph
12	You must fill your preference form beforehand.

Important features of SSC CHSL Typing Test:

• Typing Test will be conducted in English or Hindi and candidates while applying for the Examination, will have to indicate his/her choice/option for Skill Test Medium in the Application Form. 
• Typing Test will be of qualifying in nature. 
• It will be administered on the Computer, to be provided by the Commission or any agency authorized by the Commission. 
• Candidates opting for English medium should have typing speed of 35 words per minute. 
• Candidates opting for Hindi medium should have typing speed of 30 words per minute. 
• The speed will be adjudged on the accuracy of typing on the Computer of a given text passage in 10 minutes. 
• If any candidate does not opt for any medium for typing, his option will be deemed to be for English medium.
• Visually Handicapped candidates (with 40% disability and above) will be allowed 30 minutes 

Skill Test : A speed test of not less than 15000 key depressions per hour for data entry work to be ascertained through speed test on computer.

ENGLISH

LDC: 10 min (35 wpm or 1750 depression)
DEO: 15 min (27 wpm or 2000 depression)

HINDI

LDC: 10 min (30 wpm or 1500 depression)

Formula for finding Error % for DEO & LDC:

There are two types of mistakes:

(i) Full Mistakes

• For every omission of word/ figure.
• Every substitution of a wrong word /figure.
• Every addition of a word / figure not found in the passage.

(ii) Half Mistakes

• Spacing Errors : Where no space is provided between two words, e.g. ‘Ihope’ or undesired space is provided between the words or letters of a word e.g. ‘I h  ave’ i.e. I hxxve
• For every spelling error committed by way of repetition, or addition or transposition or omission or substitution of a letter/letters, e.g. the word ‘spelling’ typed as ‘seeplings’ etc.
• Wrong Capitalisation: Wrong use of capital letter for small letter and vice-versa. (This does not apply to Hindi typewriting scripts).

Note: Any corrections made by pen or pencil are ignored and no credit is given to such corrections.
